Tra gli obiettivi di mercato della Roma spunta anche il nome di Jesse Lingard, ala destra del Manchester United e che a giugno lascerà a zero i Red Devils.
Lingard: una stagione sottotono
Il nazionale inglese, classe 1992, piace molto a Mourinho soprattutto per la sua duttilità tattica. Può infatti essere impiegato su tutto il fronte offensivo e con buoni risultati, ottenuti specialmente da ala destra. Ha trascorso una vita al Manchester United dove però non è mai riuscito ad imporsi in maniera definitiva, spesso schiacciato da una concorrenza agguerrita.
Dopo il prestito dello scorso anno al West Ham, squadra in cui ebbe un rendimento soddisfacente, era tornato a Manchester convinto di potersi giocare le proprie carte. Tuttavia – complice una stagione negativa dell’intero collettivo – per Lingard i frutti del ritorno a casa non sono stati quelli sperati. Sole 16 presenze per l’inglese condite da due realizzazioni (e senza alcun assist all’attivo). Insomma, numeri certamente non esaltanti.
Un calciatore desideroso di riscattarsi
Questa situazione ha condotto i Red Devils alla decisione di non rinnovargli il contratto, lasciando quindi Lingard libero di accasarsi altrove una volta terminata la stagione in corso.
A queste condizioni, per la Roma può rappresentare un giocatore decisamente utile alla causa. Ulteriore elemento che potrebbe indurre i giallorossi ad affondare il colpo decisivo riguarda le motivazioni dell’inglese, desideroso di tornare a macinare minuti in vista del Mondiale in Qatar. A Roma troverebbe inoltre il connazionale Tammy Abraham, calciatore che ben si è ambientato in quel di Trigoria e che potrebbe dunque aiutare Lingard in tal senso.
